Finally, this awaited day has come. Today I’m taking a one-way flight to Malawi to start working for One Acre Fund, a non-profit organisation that supports smallholder farmers mainly in East Africa.

I’m ready to start writing this new chapter of my life. My 41 kg suitcases are packed with all the essentials that I think I will need to get started but, actually, they carry much more than that. They are full of wonderful memories that I’ve gathered over the past 34 years. And those memories are so special just because of the people that I’ve met on this long journey. Each one of you has contributed to make me who I am and I thank you for that.

It hasn’t been easy to find what I really wanted to accomplish in my life and now, for the first time ever, I feel that I will do what comes from my inner self and not what others expect from me. My friends have helped and supported me especially over the past few years when at times I was feeling frustrated and trapped in a circle that seemed hard to leave. Now, I cannot promise that this is the right decision to make but I can guarantee that it is worth trying. As a beautiful poem that I received yesterday from a close friend said, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”

How will be the place that I live like? What will be my first job responsibilities? What will I eat? In a few days you’ll have news from me!
